Revolutionary War Stirrup

Found this on the route of General Sullivan's march through Pennsylvania as he was driving the Iroquois up to Canada after the Wyoming Massacre. It came out of one of his camps. Finds were few and far in between, It is cleaning up now. Should look nice. Also got some other items, but they only had overnight camps, so it's a tough hunt! View attachment 1723425

Gotta feed my birds, I'll try fixing it later or getting it cleaned with a better picture.

I was on my head for three hours of surgery. The doctors were so friggin' happy they didn't kill me they came by the room and gave me hi 5's and kicked me out of the hospital 2 hours later. I have a lot of allergies, severe ones to medicines and the chief of anesthesiology did that part himself. That it worked out so well and I have it together enough to post here 24 hours later is truly an Act of God, to which I give the credit. At least the part of the heat of summer is here now and bugs and ticks so I wouldn't be detecting anyhow. I will be able to drive in about a week. (Doctor said two). But short trips! My doctor even called me this morning to see how I was. How's that for service!

Steve in Pa, you are most likely right about the top to the stirrup. It could have been an awkward attempt at a replacement, however, and it didn't last so was tossed out.

That's a really nice piece of American history STC! I'm impressed with how well it cleaned up. Great find!

Yes, it cleaned up nice. Thank you all. I also don't think the second piece from the same hole was original, but it was twisted deliberately into it's shape, not sure exactly what it was. Corn is planted, I can't get out of my own way at the moment (last day for general anesthesia to work out of my system, just a little light headed), so naps and here and Ebay for a bit. I'm ok to try to get pics of the other stuff.
