Just a short hunt late this afternoon in the cold, but the ground was not frozen.

Among my first couple holes came this lapel pin sans pin. It is gold (not the Au variety) in color with the blue letters "T" "C" and in the shape of a cheerleader's megaphone. Considering the area, this has to be a cheerleader's label pin for Towson Catholic High School. School colors for the TC Owls were blue and gold. The school was started in 1922 and closed in 2009. I attended elementary school grades 1 - 6 at The Immaculate Conception School on the same grounds as the high school. This pin came with its own date: 1981.

Next cool find came from about 7 inches down and is a plated souvenir ring. It is a commemorative from the Baltimore & Ohio Transportation Museum in Baltimore, MD. This museum houses the largest collection of steam locomotives. The museum was opened in 1953. The locomotive pictured on this rig is the William Mason, built in 1856 and rebuilt in 1927. This locomotive was featured in the movie "Gods and Generals". This memento ring is a child's size and probably dates from the 1960s.

My last "good" find was a crimped piece of lead, white from being in the ground a long time. Not certain what it came from.

Nary a button today, maybe next time.

Nice finds (neat ring!) McCDig. Thanks for sharing...

Nice job on the finds! :occasion14:

Nice finds McCdig. I'm sure the 1981 is the year the cheerleader graduated from High School. I like that button also.

Thx Ken! The ring's a 'junker' but it has an interesting local connection.

Thx vpnavy! Thought I had a silver ring there, definitely worth the dig to see a ring come from 7 inches down.

Thx Professor! Feet were freezing toward the end of the hunt. Warmer days ahead! HH & GL.

Thx Trezurehunter! Thought that pin may have been gold but no such marking. Looks like the pin was brass as well but was snapped off at some point. Wasn't the greatest signal and with it being sort of a weird shape I wasn't certain what I had at first.

Love those storied finds. They can better than a good coin. Good hunt. Congrats.

Thx Twray! Give me something I can research! Good luck on your hunts!

I love the local stuff like that. You learn so much about your areas history! SOme of my best finds have been things like that..

GO Owls. :icon_thumleft: Congrats on getting gout and pulling a few.

Thx L-D! Perhaps the owl mascot is more popular that I supposed. Would you believe my high school's mascot is a parrot? Seriously!

Thx Ken! What was that French silver coin doing in your area? That's a mystery.
