My friend found this along the riverbank that runs through his property. Can anyone share some information on it or give an idea of how old it might be? I’m thinking it could be an 1800s whiskey bottle. Definitely plan to look for more once it warms up. Thanks for looking!

It's pre-prohibition, since it lacks the "Federal Law Forbids" embossing, and that mold seam looks like it was hand tooled on the top rather than machine-made, though tooled bottles were common until around 1920. Your bottle is likely late 19th century to very early 20th, 1880's-1910's.

As the side seam fades away as it approaches the top, it is a pre-ABM ( Automatic Bottle Machine ) piece; the advent / use of ABM's generally began about 1915, thus your bottle dates earlier, likely in the early 1900's. If interested, tap into sha.org and reference their antique bottles section; it is a huge source of information.
