Someone posted a pic of this rock in the last couple of days. I can't find the original post, but I got an ID on the rock from a geologist friend. He says:
"My best guess is that the stone is silty sandstone and the oval formations are fossil limpet shells that have had their conical tops removed by beach erosion."
