That's one of the greatest parts of mining as geology in a constant state of knowledge advancements. Any day this old mining dog learns a new process, procedure or advancement is a righteous day. John

Geology! Unless you have already found gold in a specific spot, geology is the KEY to finding some color. You can get a degree in geology, buy a couple of dozen books on the identification of rocks, follow some successful miners around (if they'll let you).... or..... buy the book FISTS FULL OF GOLD. Chris Ralph's book, in my opinion, is the best single source for gold-specific geology that you can find. The only improvement to this book would be to add color plates of the rocks. Yes, more study is needed, but Ralph's book is a very good starting point. TTC

AMEN Brother! Anyone (with the possible exception of Clay and he invented mining ) that says they know it all when it comes to mining is blowing smoke! There is just too much in a lot of different fields for one person to know.
