Roll full of Canadian dimes produces 1 silver

Went into a Wells Fargo today and asked for dimes. As the teller handed me $50 worth of MWR, I saw that they were all new. Given I didn't want those (when I get all new coins I just return the rolls unopened - error checking is not my thing), and I saw that she had a few CWR, I said I will take those CWR and that I collect coins. She had 2 CWR, but said that one of them was all Canadian so she wasn't going to give me those. I said I will take them, and I know that they are worth less than $5, and I don't care. I said you probably never thought that you would get rid of these, but sometimes strange things happen, and we had a laugh.

Turns out that there were 51 dimes in there and 1 was a 1942 80% silver.

I’m a roll hunter in MI, I’ve found 150+ silver Canadian dimes in 4 years including a 1900 Victoria. Also a few quarters. About 10-20% of my roll is Canadian, not easy to move unless I spend them. Had a teller once throw a Canadian quarter back at me when I tried to swap it for a US silver quarter.

Chase (in metro Detroit) will take rolled Canadian 1, 5, 10 and 25 cent coins and give you US dollars at even exchange.

That is a nice arbitrage
This was the first time I got a roll that was all Canadian (and like I said they weren't going to sell it to me).
I used to live in Buffalo and when you would bring rolled coin into a bank there, given, like you, it was right across the border, they used to take a magnet and go over the rolls to make sure people weren't giving them a bunch of Canadian.

Many, many years ago when I lived in upstate NY, I used to find them in my change a frequently and once in a while detecting. Here in North Carolina, I have almost forgotten what a Canadian coin looks like.
