Good stuff! :icon_thumright:

The Hudson Lumber Co. token might be an unlisted variety from either the N. L. Hudson Lumber Co. in Cedar Grove, LA, c. 1920's-30's; the Hudson River Lumber Co. in DeRidder, LA, c. 1899; or P. O. Hudson & Bros., a lumber company operating in Kingston and Harold, MD in the 1920's-30's.

Don't worry, Pete, your skills aren't going to suffer after the short hiatus. :notworthy: You always will be a Colonial-digging machine.

I might be dreamin it, but is there a 1 next to the 2, making it 12 1/2? That amount is seen on many tokens. 2 bits being a quarter (.25) and 12 1/2 being 1 bit.

Thanks there vwayne1,Yes looking tokens up I see that there is 12 1/2 on alot of them or I should say mentioned about alot. But I'm purdy sure that this one is only 2 1/2 as there is not enough room in my opinion for a 1 to be in front of the two.Cause of the letter L in lumber being so close.I see no 1 as hard as I look. Here is another shot more straight forward on the token.

cool. never seen a lumber token with 2 1/2 on it. usually was merchant tokens only. so learning more....
Thanks intimer,Boy I was hoping you had some news on this deal. :laughing9: Glad for the comment though! Yea I can't find nothing either I seen alot of different types online but not this one and not many with 2 1/2 on them.I'll just have to settle with putting it in the cabinet and leave it at that. :laughing9: If I would have to make a guess though I'd say mid to late 1800's to maybe early 1900's big time frame but thats the best I could do with what I know. And where it was found.
Thanks Again,
Timekiller!

Re: "Rollin' on a River"

I've gotten a PM or two on this token,
The size is 22mm from flat side to flat side.
It is 24mm point to point.
The metal content I'm not to sure. :dontknow:
As for anything else wrote on it I don't believe there ever was purdy much as is on looks.
Thanks,
Timekiller!

Re: "Rollin' on a River"

Timekiller, I think the companies PBK mentioned are great leads. You might want to research one more possibility though which could date your relic back a little farther, as the style suggests it might be from before the 20's.

The Tarriff hearings before the 16th Congress 1908-1909 make mention in their index of the "Hudson Lumber Company" which manafactured lead pencils (and still might?) I believe it is location in North Carolina, the state where I assume you found this token? Possibly this is a counter or token of some sort from that company which is unlisted also?
