:hello:

Went to a charity dig in Lincolnshire to a well known Roman area, it was a long way to go for just two fields but it was for a good cause. Over night thunderstorms had left the field like a quagmire and the going was really tough on my right knee, second signal and I had my first Roman Silver of the season a nice portrait of Valerian 1st, also a first for me.:headbang:

The coin is a Roman washed or dipped Silver coin known as a Antoninianus, you can clearly see the silver plating coming of on the reverse, but the obverse has some nice detail. Managed a few other bits, Roman steel yard weight and a knackered hammered. This field turned out to be the best of the two, but we had to be off for 2 o'clock because the farmer was spraying it, but some one managed a Gold Stater of it, so a good little short dig, for a good cause.
