Cru'Dad & I spent 6.5 hours finishing off gridding the site, over the last few days we systematically gridded about 16 acres. We had double the runs this year to push the limits of the site & that tactic paid off big time!
The Romano-Celtic or Roman Bulls Head was very deep & out of shallow plough range in no-mans land, nothing else close to it, but it was halfway between 2 Roman Sites.

British Museum - Image gallery: hanging bowl

I think that there used to be 3 of these Bulls Head on the hanging Bowl & it was 'maybe' used in a ritual way. The Bull has strong sacrificial links. This was not a bucket mount for the average Celtic to fill up water from the river.

Congrats for making me envy you [emoji31][emoji31][emoji31]

OK, I awaited an expert opinion & didn't get what I hoped for or expected. So, JamieD, thanks for your researching time & you pretty much cemented most of my thoughts:

''Bowls of this type and quality are very rare and could only be afforded by rich and powerful.''
"Buckets, cauldron, bowls and strainers were very important as ritual objects."
"A direct parallel for this mount has not been found though similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database"

Hello CRUSADER. Yep "Amazing" is an understatement...excellent find. Thanks for posting it and good luck. C9
