4 boxes of halves-

Box #1- Skunk

Box #2- 1968-D(ender) Only silver coin in box

Box #3- Skunk

Box #4- Skunk

Get a call from main dump bank ask if I can stop by, so I did and the Regional GM told me there would be NO more Ordering or Dumping at any of her banks. Keep in mind I only have one of "her" branches order me coin and the rest I dump on. This branch only orders me 2 boxes... They have a coin counter in the back that takes halves. Should I call corporate and push the issue? I was very polite to this lady but she was a witch!! I see no reason why even if they wouldn't order for me anymore why I couldn't use there counter esp. since I have an account there... Thoughts?? And no I don't dump where I eat. The one branch I got coin from is literally 75 minutes away from the main bank in downtown hattiesburg...

(Update)

Emailed Corporate Office. Waiting for a response, hopefully sometime tomorrow. I was very polite. I went by the last of the branches that I know had ordered me coin earlier in the week. They refused to give them to me even though I had cash, Said they would not order anymore coin for me and asked me to leave. The branch told me they would just send the boxes back.(That thrills me to no end). I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am definately being discriminated againest and I am going to fight this. What have I got to lose? I really appreciate the comments guys, Esp. BigHeed and Arkie. You guys are great. I will update again as soon as I find anything more out.

Man...that is bad news!!!!!

Re: Rough Day For ImpurestStewart..

you should press the issue and ask why you are being denied member services. Make sure your account is "transactional" like use the debit card once or twice a month at least.

if she tries to break out the "F" word, just tell her its federal law all "Fees" have to be posted, i dunno if it is or not but its gotten 1 service manager confused enough heh.

Re: Rough Day For ImpurestStewart..

So I should call corporate? Or Email? What do you think?

Re: Rough Day For ImpurestStewart..

Generally speaking, when a CRHer gets "cut off", I advise to just pack up and move on to the next bank. Usually its just a single branch and/or manager that is the problem, and by "causing a fuss" you will, in most situations, create more problems than you solve by losing even more banks/branches. A similar thing happened to me about 2 years ago when I was cut off from dumping at a particular bank. I had spoken to the branch manager before opening the account. I honestly told her that I searched a lot of coins and that I wanted to run $500-$1000 weekly through their coin machine. If they were willing to do that, I'd move my main checking account to their bank. She readily agreed. Less than 3 months later, I received a call that I could no longer bring in "large amounts" of coin. I did not press the issue, but I withdrew my account down to the minimum. However, I still use another branch of that same bank as an "overflow" dump bank. If I order extra boxes, acquire a lot of coin on a road trip, etc., I will use this branch to dump the excess and I have had no problems whatsoever. I also occasionally stop by the branch that cut me off looking for halves, and have scored a few silvers there. Had I pitched a fit, I likely wouldn't be able to do this.

However, you are dealing with the regional GM. All branches of this bank are now essentially useless to you, other than possibly being a source of loose coin, CWRs and/or maybe even bags from their machines. If that doesn't interest you or isn't a possibility, then you really have nothing to lose by pressing the issue further. With that said, I'm 99% certain you cannot win. I seriously doubt anyone above this regional GM will side against her. They can certainly refuse to no longer order boxes for you just like any bank. When it comes to being refused dumping privileges, you could cry "discrimination" as you are being denied a service that they provide for other customers. And technically you would be correct. However, they can rectify this by just simply closing your account(s) and showing you the door.

Personally, I would just be thankful of the free service I was provided for a time and move on. As I said, I don't think you can win anyway. In my opinion, the only thing you can salvage from this situation is being able to "cold call" branches of this bank looking for that cashed-in collection. I don't like "burning any bridges" in this hobby. Eventually you'll find that you are all out of bridges and are on the wrong side of the river. ;D But, thats just my opinion. Do whatever you think is the correct thing to do.

This is why its usually a bad idea to dump back onto the same bank that you order from. The bank gets hit with a double expense. Not only do they incur the expense of ordering the boxes, they also pay to have these same coins shipped back week after week, month after month. You really can't blame them for not wanting to do that.

Re: Rough Day For ImpurestStewart..

Can you try another bank? In my area I pick different banks to pick up and dump.

IS-

Got any updates for us?

FWIW, I agree with Arkie. I think fighting it is futile, and burning bridges...

I bet they had a manager's meeting somewhere, and the subject of half dollars came up.

Keep us posted.

Re: Rough Day For ImpurestStewart..

So sorry IPS;

When Banks find out that they are taking their own coin back, it gives them a nervous tic, and they tend to want to be sayin' goo--bye to you.

Here is what I do to avoid said difficulty:

I alternate buying and dumping in such a way that when asked, I can truthfully say, "No, these are not your own coins I am bringing back to you....these are from -----------bank."

Seems dumb to me, as long as they have to dump my coins I don't see why they care where they come from as long as I keep bringing them, but it seems to matter a lot.

So, if it makes them happier for each of them to be dumping the other banks coins, so be it.
Just a little sunshine in their day.

Keep on Rollin' !

Find anything out man? :icon_pirat:

Wow. They had placed the coin order, rx'ed the coin, and tell you to your face that they have the coin, but would rather send it back than let you have it. I could see telling you that this is the last time and the only reason they are letting you have it is because it was ordered before you got cut off, but the way they did this is childish and spiteful.

Federally insured banks are regulated as to fees they can charge, I don't think they are regulated as far as refusing service - except for a protected class. We need to lobby Washington to make CRH'ers a protected class. Alcoholism is a disability, CRH'ing has similarities, so shouldn't it fall into the same thinking?

I hate to join in the beating of this poor horse, but my nature compels me.

I'm on the fence between 1) Don't rock the boat with banks because it jeopardizes the hobby for all of us and 2) If the bank won't play ball, then play hardball. Given that this bank is so hostile to the hobby already, I don't see how pushing on them will cause harm to the hobby.

So, Impure, try this one on them:

According to USC 12 CFR 229.10(a)(1), the bank must make "cash" deposits, if made in person to an employee of the bank, available by the next business day. Per USC 12 CFR 229.2(h) "Cash" means United States coins and currency.
http://www.fdic.gov/regulations/laws/rules/6500-3210.html#fdic6500229.1

If you offer a cash deposit in person to an employee of the bank and they refuse it, you would have an argument that they are attempting to skirt the FUNDS AVAILABILITY regulation of their FDIC obligations. This really isn't the meaning of the statute, but the beauty of citing regulations is that you can try to twist them in your favor no matter what their intention is.

When you get the dismissive response from corporate (or after no response), followup with those citations and see if it shakes them or not.

Any updates Stewart? I hope the gm gets fired. :laughing9:

power of the people :headbang: tell em whats up man

I still haven't recieved an email from their corporate office. I am sending a letter tomorrow. And If I must I will make a trip to the corporate office in Tupelo. One of their branches in another city has offered to double my order to make up for the loss. Which is kinda awesome. I will give an update as soon as I know something. Thanks everyone for the support.
