Two Kennedy halves today

Well I splurged on a box of half dollars today. The bank people have been very nice about ordering the half dollars for me. I ordered one and two came in so now I've got one more waiting for me. I only pulled two silvers out...one a 1964 and the other a 67 which I think is only 40% silver? I won't complain, at least I wasn't skunked. There were 6 halves I set aside because their condition stood out.

Those others are proof coins. Came in a set from the San fransisco mint. Never intended for circulation.

As mentioned those are Proof coins and usually came in a set, the ones with Kennedy being "frosted" are DCAM Proofs, the others are just proofs, with the exception of the one in the center, I could be mistaken but it appears to be silver, there was a Bicentennial S mint mark 3 coin silver set minted, I believe that someone broke up a set of these and that where that coin came from, if so it would be 40% silver, like the 1965 to 1970 40% silver Kennedys.

Eh. Probably a bit more than a standard half, but as they’ve been circulated they’ve taken a hit. Someone else will know better than me, but I keep any proofs I find too.

Yes you maybe correct, hard for my eyes to tell, if it is a D it's not silver.

In image #2, center coin is a business strike 1976 D, sometimes called a Bicentennial Half. There are those who put a higher value on them, but I am not part of that camp.

The others are all proofs. I set aside all I find, and generally offer them for $2 each, although I will take $1 all day long.

There seem to be quite a few proofs in these boxes...I'm pulling the older dates so far...thinking I might put them in a coin book...
