The ocean can sure be hard on metal. Gold holds up pretty well as it doesn't corrode. Brass does pretty good too, but, copper and silver get attacked by salt water. Zinc cents get destroyed in short order. Add some sand abrasion and some coins are almost worthless after their time in the surf. These two silver dimes I just found are the worst ones I've ever found. Most of the time, they're just crusty and pitted. These must have bounced around and not buried to get this bad. I can tell one is a Roosie, but, the other is just too far gone. Yes, are silver.....it's just the lighting that make them look like gold!
