Hi, my son found this in one of our artifact hunting creeks. Can anyone give me details on what this is? He’d like to write a paper about it for his homeschooling work required during the pandemic.

An older rock that was where a slightly newer rock formed.
 
Looks like a hard boiled Easter rock.
