Round the Horn

Interesting. There was a board game called ‘Round the Horn’ produced by Thomas De La Rue in the 1930s. It was a combination of dice-rolling and card-drawing (proprietary cards) but the board didn’t look even remotely like that.
I can’t imagine it being a tabletop shuffle-board type game using coins or counters since the raised frame goes round all four edges (normally the bottom edge would be open) and there are no obvious ‘scoring zones’.
There’s also a game known as ‘Round the Horn’ where a single player has to arrange numbered tiles or counters on a grid or matrix so that each straight line adds up to 26 but, again, I can’t see how it would relate to a board like yours.
Some kind of dice game is a a possibility, but the surrounding frame doesn’t look high enough to keep the dice from being thrown off the board.
The numbers going up to 26 might suggest it was a two-player game requiring a 52-deck of cards(?) There is a variant of gin-rummy called “Round the Corner” (known also as “Round the Horn”) that differs from the standard game in that the Ace counts high or low and the runs can go ‘round the corner’ (ie A-2-3, A-K-Q and 2-A-K are all valid runs.) I can’t see how it would relate to that though. For two players, the game is played to 125 points.
The carving of the letters in the middle looks like it might be amateur work, so perhaps this was some kind of self-invented game. If it were made by a parent for kids, I would expect it to be rather more jolly and colourful rather than having that austere look.
For any kind of board game it doesn’t look like it would function hanging on a wall, so unless the wall-hanger is simply for storing it out of the way, maybe it’s for something else entirely.
