It does look like one in the following website. Seventh row down, second from left. There is contact info just below the picture of the ship if you want to inquire about your button.

I believe the Colchester Site got this wrong.
It's the only source I know of that states these (mostly Tombac) buttons are Military. I believe this flower/rose type is civilian. Like all the other tons of rose like (flower) designs on various items like cuff-links etc..
It is mid-late 18th C.
