RR Piece?

Hello. I found this item at a 1910 era home site in Central FL. It is just under 1.5-IN in diameter, non-magnetic, and looks to be made of plated brass with no markings on the back.

The type style looks vintage so I am thinking that it is railroad claim tag or maybe a tool tag.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on this item. Thanks. C9

Tool tag maybe. I'm unsure of it being railroad related. Definitely a hand stamped piece.The black and south part is interesting. You say "plated brass"? I would think solid brass, no?

Hello diggummup. Thanks for the reply. I say plated brass because it has a gold colored coating on the front side that you can see in the picture. The back does not have the coating or any engraving on it. C9
