WOW, what beautiful work. That wood grain really pops.

I mounted the stock in my jig for spraying the final coat. I wet sanded it with 400 grit first. My wife turns the wheel while I spray. It works very well. It should be finished this afternoon. Then a day to dry before reassembly.

The end of a project. This wood is pretty nice considering it came from the county log dump as was going to be burned. The projects are taking me longer these days. I plan to keep on going until I crash and burn.😄 I’m not sure what’s next. I think I’ll rest on my laurels for a while.

You ever get desperate for projects.
I have a Stevens model 15 or something similar you can shoot around corners with the stock is so warped.
i relieved the barrel channel enough the front site hangs off one side nicely now trying to hit a barn door sized target. Not that you could expect to hit one yet even using Kentucky windage.
A lag bolt through the wrist is hidden with a contrasting wood button and a hint of wood glue.
Glue in a couple cracks besides before clamping.
It took sanding and stain fairly well though. L.o.l.. Might be one of the most stick of butter visual appearance for grain pieces of wood ever made into a stock. Beech perhaps. Better than plastic though.

I had one. Was given to me by a room mate long ago as he couldn't come up with all of his half the rent. He moved on and a few months after came over and asked if he could borrow it to go hunt rabbits. I said sure. After that he never came back with it.

Thats painful. I lost a muzzle loader a Lyman zouave copy 58 caliber. Loaned it, it got left at someone else's house and disappeared. Most painful thing i recently figured out , the whole time I had the gun I had a matching bayonet and never realized it. If I knew the bayonet fit I would have never loaned it out. It is like losing a close friend . It was a hard lesson. Dont loan books either you can kiss those good bye ....
