That was my impression too. I read Andy's book, which says to noise cancel on the ground. But his book is mainly a Quattro book, not a Safari book (although almost everything about the Quattro will apply to the Safari). The Minelab manual, however, says to noise cancel around 12" from the ground, which is what I have been doing since having read it. Seems to be working for me, although I can't say that when I did noise cancel on the ground there was any difference.

I 've tried both ways. I can't really tell the difference. I usually just do it on the ground now.

I've tried both ways. I don't see a difference in the machine with either way. I usually just lay it on the ground now.

Same here, I just set the coil on the ground when I noise cancel too.
I am using a Quattro.
Good Luck,
Mark
