I don't need to use it at the beaches cause I use a Stealth Scoop. It also requires no batteries.

That's funny. I haven't had a problem with mine. Works great. I use mine sound only, cause the vibrate does cut the battery life. Not that big a deal for me as I use rechargeables.

Looks similar to mine I epoxied a brass rod into an old screwdriver handle.

Btw... should see mine... its 21 inches... actually 2... one round Phillips... one square Phillips... which I cut down from 24 :P

I grew up using a long/thin bladed screwdriver for a Pinpointer since electronic ones hadn't been invented yet. Used a GI bayonet to pop shallow targets and dig deeper ones as well. Just be sure you round off all the corners and edges of the blade on your screwdriver. Sharp corners tends to scratch silver coins really easy.

Hit a buried electrical cable and it will vibrate, just like a real one!

Deviously clever. I have a similar one I made from a 3/16" x 10" brass rod and a golf ball with a hole drilled 3/4" and the rod epoxied in.

Never learned to use it to "pop" a coin but it works great as a probe.
