saturdays finds Trench knife handle and barber half

I went back to a site near my house that i have hit several times. I found the US 1918 trench knife handle near a stone wall with some junk around it. Thats why I passed the area up previously. I have found a few eagle buttons at this site that are from WW1 era so I think this knife came home as a war souvenir. Its a shame the blade is missing and it was modified. Some ground the points off the knuckles and cut off part of the guard. i can see some saw marks were they cut the guard. It was wrapped in electrical tape when i found it. I peeled off the tape when I got home and there is still some original black paint on it. On the way out of this site I went a way I had hit already. I hit a large hot rock and right on the edge of it i got a good signal and after some tough digging i popped out a 1908 d barber half. I must have missed it because of the hot rock last time. It was on edge between to big rocks. i scratched the face a little getting it out. I love when I'm about ready to give up on a site and then find the good stuff! I got out on sunday as well and found a 1802 Draped Bust LC. Its looked good out of the ground but the patina came off when i tried to clean the dirt off it so now it looks pretty rough. I am happy I was able to get a date off it. Happy Hunting Everyone!!!
