Saxon Gaming Piece Field - Day 5...

We only had a 2.5 hour window so we headed back to our closest option, only expecting about 4 scrappies & if lucky a hammered. Wrong again!

I just wanted to add a picture of one of my smallest finds to show the power of the XP in wheat stubble. (on the 1 cent piece)

It was Dads day today with both the best finds:
Carcalla Denarius circa AD204
Circa 14th C Medieval Pilgrims folding mirror case. (most complete one we have, I think) Pilgrims would capture the image of the Staint in the mirror, close the lid & seal the image in for safe keeping whilst taking it home for good fortune/ward off the evil eye.

Yeap, & it came from a large blank spot on our GPS maps. Ie. over the years we had recorded nothing in the area it came from!

Very nice! We say in every field is at least one roman coin hidden. Looks like you got this one and it is silver!
Never seen pilgrims mirrors here. Cool find. Lead pilgrim ampoules to take holy water home are rare enough here.

Same here, never had a full one. A friend of mine once a beautiful complete one. He tried to open it, result two nice halves
