Finds from the second day of the SC Dirt Diggers Beaufort Hunt include 3 flat buttons and a colonial clasp, which I believe to be a cape clasp.

Very Nice!! Congrats!!

I've seen simpilar early clothes fasteners but they have 1 or 2 holes at 1 end and a hook.
Never seen this type before!

It's shaped like a historical flask, of course I always have bottles on the brain. Looks sorta like some kind of image on it?

Congrats on the nice hunt! :occasion14:

ha ha. I will have more bottles to post soon.

I am envious! We have friends that own a vacation home on Fripp Island, and every time I pass through Beaufort, I think about MD'ing there. Congrats!

Had another close look at the front. I can see writing around the edge, kind of looks like:
WARRANTY...??????????

Yeah, I have been studying the writing for hours with a loop and still can’t quite make it out. It also looks like I see PURRYSBURG...?????

OK that is a place in SC.
My first thoughts was late 17th C until I saw the writing which I think puts it in the 19th C. Still not sure of its function, other than a clasp to?
