Schoolhouse find......handle from an antique schnizenheimer?

Here's something that I found last week at a schoolhouse. Monty told me what it might be...but I'm looking for a second opinion.

Thanks...I see it now....but couldn't you guys have made it a little more exciting? Like a miniature civil war bowling game piece or a handle off of a antique schnizenheimer?

I have a fireplace and I also have the fireplace tool set. They hang on a stand, and the bottom has a rail around it, this thing looks like one of the vertical corner pieces that joins the horizontal bars in place...........NGE (T)
