scored 100 ikes NOW WHAT

I am new to this. Not really but its been years, so I can say kinda new. So was CRH today and stopped at a new bank I have never been to before. Asked for half's and they had 2 rolls so I got those. I almost left and asked if they had any Ike's and the teller tells me yes. Asked how many and she said they had 100. So I said I would take them all. Got them home and the half rolls were duds and the Ike's were OK. there was every mint year p and d with the exception of the 1973. got both variations in the bicentennial which was cool. Now I am left with like 80 Ike's. What else do I do with them? should i keep them or dump them. This is the most I have ever seen in one lot. I have only picked up a couple here and there but I forget to really ask. I am going to go to my regular bank to order a box of half's tomorrow. Any advise would help.

Ummm...

My coin dealer sells them for $1.50 so if you want to Auction them somewhere then maybe make .50 each. Otherwise you should dump them, you do have a chance at a silver IKE that I think are 1970-1972 (S) Mint Mark. Do a fast edge check for silver content. Keep the silver ones and dump the rest. Hope this helps !!

Thanks for the reply. I did do an edge check but most of them have half and half on the edges. meaning half shiny half dull almost copper like. not sure what that means. I did check for S mint marks but only found plain and D marks. I did get the wide and narrow variations on the 1976 ones in both plain and D mints. Will the silver ones be all silver on the edges?

Revised .... I think all mine are clad. I did a search and found someone on another forum that had pictures of the edges to show the difference with the variations on the ikes. I think I might dump the rest. i might try a dime box next. I will see what my bank has.

That ebay listing is not the norm notice the 1 bid. Ive sold hundreds of them on ebay last year and after fees i was up maybe $50. Hardly worth the gas and risk of dealing with multiple people over the internet. Craigslist would be the way to go if you can do it safely.

You can also check your 1972p Ikes for the different varieties. There is a type I, type II and type III. The variety depends on the position of the islands south of Florida. Just google it and you can see clear pics of the different types. The type IIs are worth a few bucks.
