Here's some Boy Scouts neckerchief knot covers I found in parks over the years.?

The 'locket' was found on a beach, badly corroded, but says 'Gril Scouts' on it.? It had a spring or something that rusted away-- not sure what it is exactly.? Any ideas?

Oh man Labrat, I hit a boy scout campground and got tired of digging those one day. Filled a tin with 'em. None were deep or old enough to be the sought after ones, some were downright new in appearance. We've got to do something about fixing them things so they don't fall off all the time.
