SE on the beach with 16.5" coil

Ok. So I dont know what I might be doing wrong, but I am a new minelab user. I was on the beach today and was using factory settings with a 16.5 inch coil. the deepest target i found was only 4-6 inches. what am i doing wrong?? can someone recommend some settings for me please? I am heading out tomorrow and wouldnt mind finding some deeper targets if i had the right settings. it can be pretty frustrating if you dont know how to set the new SE. thanks in advance for any input!

Mont,
You might not be doing anything wrong. But can we get some more info? What beach were you hunting? (Different conditions can really cut down on depth) What settings were you running on the SE? I know we all love bigger coils(size is important) but why the 16.5? Are you looking for something specific? Did you try the stock coil and if so what were your results?
I have never had much luck the first few times out with a large coil, they generally need to be tweaked and I'm an impatient kind of bare. Maybe you need to practice with different settings and maybe try burying some coins in the sand and seeing how the coil responds.
Bottom line, while secveral of the folks can give you generic type information, your beach-your machine-your settings.
