Relic Hunting
Got the bug pretty bad and it warmed up, so I went out about 8:30 pm. after putting the kiddos to bed. Had my Petzl Ultra headlamp and hunted for about 3 hours. I love hunting at night! Found 3 7/16" Sedalia, a 4 1/2" Sedalia, a 7 1/8" tool, a small portion of a black hardstone axe, and several other brokes. I'm looking forward to hunting next weekend if it doesn't freeze up.

Awesome night hunt. Love the bullseye in that broke.

Night hunting sounds cool for the summer months. So are those surface finds or were you digging? Nice finds either way.

Wow, and at night too! Great finds!!

Great hunt. I have tried it with a head lamp but dang it was like tunnel vision. Nice hunt and some killer finds I really like the Sedalias. Big

I did quite a bit of research and reading on different forums and wanted more of a floodlight I had tried a $25 headlamp from Walmart and handheld flashlight a couple of times and could function, but it was kind of tough and yes, tunnel vision-like. I ordered the Petzl Ultra Headlamp with the flood type light and it is SOOOO much better. I can hunt a creek and hunt a little slower than daylight, but still cover the creek. While digging, it works wonderful.

The battery that came with it gives an hour and fifteen minutes of light, but I bought the next battery up that goes three hours, so I can hunt on high for over four hours at 300 lumens.

Because it's been so dry, I haven't used it in the creeks much, but I have used it four or five times last year and found points every time. I have about $500 invested in it, but it's worth it because with my schedule, during the week, the only time I am able to hunt is at night after the kiddos go to bed.

I have the older Petzl and a black diamond but not the that many lumens.. I like the idea of a flood light though it is nice to be able to see everything. Sounds like you a nice system and know it is a good area.
