Today was a first for me finding a shard with a hole in it and it's a thick one too. Guessing from what I've read it could be either where a cord was strung thru to carry or a repair hole. Anyway I thought it was way cool since it's the first one I've found. Ok shard folks, what time period would you guess it to be?

Woodland Era in general and yes, it is likely a repair hole. Cool find!

Wow Peaches...that's a wonderful find:icon_thumright:....hope the experts chime in with an answer for you! And as a "sherdy"...thanks for sharing it with us! :)

Nice one...
This is the best piece I have to back up the repair hole idea.

Agree, repair hole. Bet it's 1000BC to 600AD....... looks sand tempered.

I agree with Tom on it is sand tempered, good find:thumbsup:

Thanks guys! I love this "hobby" aka obsession! The creek just keeps on giving but a little at a time...today I found another shard, different than this one in the same area. I know there's more but a lot of raking and rearranging of the sand to find but it's a good spot 2nd of 2 bends going downstream and a large tree root to catch them too. Only drawback is being aware of a possible snake and there's some sort of sweet smelling large tree like bush that the bees are thoroughly enjoying. Also, I found a quartz time worn point I think and will post a pic to get opinions tomorrow if ya'll don't mind. Have a great nite everyone!

Nice pot hole. Ive yet to find a drilled piece.

..."pot hole"...funny rock :laughing7:
