Great pics, as usual. I almost thought it was a Mississippi Kite, or what we used to call a Rain Hawk, at first, but the coloring on the eyes and tail feathers is a little different. Sundancer, it's way easier to get licensed in falconry in Oklahoma. You could get it there and maybe transfer it to Florida, but probably not. My son has his and he's at the level that he can use hawks, but he wants to work towards using eagles.

Too kewl RGINN! I'd love to do that. My wife just was asked to volunteer for possibly caring for Black Bear cubs in the event any are found. She has experience with them..they are brought in occasionally and of course she agreed. What next? It truly is becoming a zoo here.

New arrival at our home. Her name is Rose. She was pulled and on the bottle on 4_25_09 and just arrived in FL Sat. 5_2_09. Sweetheart.. we now have 4 wallabies.

So, what do you do after they grow up? Do they go to a zoo? I'd get so attached to it, I wouldn't want to give it back.

These wallabies are our pets. We have 10 acres and have a huge pen outside for them. We use them for educational purposes, they do tours of Ped. units at hospitals, schools and occasionally a hospice. They are also our pets. They are all hand raised and are loving and intelligent animals. We could never part with one of out 'kids'. We do sell the occasional joey.. or trade for fresh bloodstock. They do not get larger than mayne 50 - 60 lbs for males and maybe 35 for females. Enclosed is a pic of me and out two albino adults taken a year ago. Ignore the sign, it was a personalized email to some EQ2 friends.. LOL

I have been living with a family of very small owls who help keep the field mice in check. They are very tame and occasionally land just feet from me in the evenings. Because of the dim light when I see them, I have not been able to get a good look to see which species they are. Very small, perhaps 10" - 12" tall.. Well, they have a nest up in one of my oak trees.. and I finally spotted it. We've been hearing the baby's little trilling noises for a few weeks now and we finally got him! Wife used her Lumix and took a pic off-hand while I shone a spotlight. Got the little guy. Can anyone identify?

Thanks 4-H staff! Yes, I think that hawk is so healthy because he's a cannibal and likes to eat other birds that come in to feed in my yard .
and thanks Sundancer for those photos of the owl! Maybe someone will help you identify it! That camera your wife has is just like my daughters--they take great pictures !!
