When someone does great positive things to help the country and he is nasayed just because politicaly you do not agree it shows your shallowness as a human and disregard for your fellow country men. When you cannot discuss the good or bad points of a subject, but attack ones person by implying that their opinion is unintelligent because it is brief it makes it impossible to regard your opinion with validity because of your lack of respect for others.

I personaly would like too see more prisons and jails ran his way. I think most prisons and jails are to comfortable for the majority of prisoners. (Not talking white collar crimes)

Why do they have cable tv to watch and weights to work out? They need to work out, they can swing sledge hammers making gravel for gravel roads, or let them move 50 lb boulders 10 hours a day, 6 days a week from one side of the prison yard to the other. They will not have need of a TV, they will be too tired to watch.

I just love the laughs I get from folks who think Joe is a horses arse. Listen, if they broke the law, they need to do something to negate some of the negative effects they have had on society. Making gravel? If society needs it. Sure, we could make it with machines, but they don't need to be educated on what it is to work for a living. Thieves seldom rob the folks on welfare (unless those same folks are doing something under the table). They rob WORKING people.

Nothing like a few years of work to help them to appreciate how hard it was for those folks to get what they took.

Rather than sympathy for those poor wretched souls, laboring for Sheriff Joe, we need a few hundred MORE like Sheriff Joe.

If nothing else, maybe they'll develop a backbone while they work.

Much of what he does seems to be to call attention to himself, because he loves the attention. As far as opinions? Everyone has them. What I think about someone elses opinion is MY OPINION, and has nothing to do with my lack of respect for someone. Everyone seems to think they have all the answers...well if that is true, why do we still have problems? Who is your personal scapegoat for the evils and ills of society?

None of my comments directed at you, but are directed at our court penal system. As far as I am concerned convicted murderers, rapists, hard core criminals have forfeited their rights. If the are not going to be executed for their crimes then their time in prison should not be easy in any way, shape or form.

If a sheriff or warden wants publicity about their jail, prisons or treatments of prisoner's, let them have it, maybe it will make the next kid or adult on the fence, thinking about committing a crime think twice about what they are about to do.

I am for public executions again..... Let them see what the end of the road looks like before they step on that road.

I am for execution ONLY in cases where the guilt is clear cut. There have been far too many exonerations in the last two years for me to be comfortable with the system. When innocent people are executed in the name of justice, it destroys the very justice it seeks to create. I also think that we have too many people in prison for "victimless crime". Murders, rapists, and violent offenders deserve prison. Some street level pot dealer? Hardly worth the time to convict, and not worth the money to incarcerate. We need to get our priorities as far as the penal system in order. Personally, I would also like to see prisoners get education and skills that they can use when they get out, rather than prison being a graduate program for criminality.

Who is your personal scapegoat for the evils and ills of society? liberals are the problem, we went into debt to the tune of millions to build a new jail when we could have copied Sherrif JOE for a few thousand The prisoners could have cut woot with a crosscut saw for heating in the winter and just went through the hot like the citizens that are paying their upkeep.Some of our people cut pulp wood year around to put food on the table. Others pick up building rock.
put me in charge of security and i will drop the expense by using gun towers on each corner of the jail grounds ,anyone stepping over the white lines will be shot er i mean killed don"t want a bunch of convicts suing the state. four marksmen for each tower plus a sargent twenty men total. they already had a chance at a eduacation an job training before they choose a life o crime.

We agree on many points, murders, rapists, and repeat violent offenders, if no execution then life, and serve every day sentenced, no parole for murders or rapists or repeat violent offenders, life means life period, not 10 or 20 years, but the term of their natural life. That time served should also be served at HARD labor too.

I completely agree with you on the pot issue as well. We have wasted far too much money on this issue that would have been better spent building prisions for violent offenders. Legalize it and tax it....

I am not sure what is being discussed here. Sheriff Joe makes inmates wear pink scrubs instead of orange ones. He uses tents to house criminals instead of a new building. Instead of a hot meal he makes due with baloney sandwiches and chips. He bought a used school bus to transport illegals back to Mexico if that is where they are from, simply enforcing law that the Federal government refused to. He doesent allow luxuries in his jail. What here can anyone not agree with unless they are a inmate in prison? OK, in liberalabsoldier opinion Joe is a glory hound. That is not what I would call a good personality trait, but still I feel we could do a lot better by following his example rather than splitting hair about his actions. You know I personally would be against any civilian trying to police the border, if the Federal government would cut the chains they are binding our border patrol with. Right now it is the war next door and it is spreading over here. Thank God some people like Sheriff Joe have shown the courage to protect his constituency while the Government refuses to .

Libra, I agree with you on most points. As far as the Statue of Liberty, it is in recognization of legal immigration. I agree with you on the Mexican issue as well. When is the last time we were attack by a band of Mexican immigrants, though the over taxing of our school systems by illegal immigrant children in the southern states is an issue.

My wife is Filipino, and has her citizenship now. She came here on a fiance Visa I filed 12 years ago. It is a shame, but many Americans born in this country could not pass the citizenship test she was required to take.

It hasn't changed. The Statue of Liberty has and still does welcome LEGAL immigrants. Those who come here illegally deserve nothing but swift prosecution and deportation.

We had four people get their US citizenship in my unit while we were in Iraq. Personally I feel that if people want to come here and join our military, they should have a fast track to citizenship. If they die in service to this country before they become citizens, they should be made citizens posthumously.

As far as prison conditions go....Yeah, Sheriff Joe is doing things to save money and making it a punishment issue. However, what is the rate of recidivism? Has a study been done, or do we just take Joe's word for it? The penal system is broken, and that is largely because as a country we have done very little to address the root causes of crime. I have more than a few family members behind bars. The only difference between me and them is that I decided to join the military so I could go to college and get out of that cycle of poverty. Personally I am in favor of more classrooms and fewer weightrooms in prisons.

The reason Sheriff Joe is seen on TV so much is because he's searched out by the reporters. When he gives speeches to Chambers of Commerce and law enforcement organizations, he's trying to get other folks to take his example and use it to improve their own prisons systems at less costs.

The Statue of Liberty is where it is so that legal immigrants, arriving by ships can see it. You'll note that there are none located along the Rio Grande because only illegals use that route. Even though there are over 72 different types of work visas that can be gotten legally, too many people just ignore that and start swimming.

In case some here have forgotten, the reason Sheriff Joe issues pink underware to his inmates is because when they were white (or off white ) the prisoners would steal them when they were released. Since he started dying them pink, his clothing costs were reduced greatly.

Libralabsoldier mentions that members of his unit got their citizenships while in Iraq. That system has been in place for decades; and rightly so. If any non-citizen of the U.S. joins the active duty military of the U.S. and completes a specified number of years of service in good conduct; they have the option of taking American citizenship. Thousands of folks have done this. I believe that the time requirement is greatly shortened if the person is in actual combat. The CIB is the "rocketship" to citizenship.

I have since my wife is a Filipino and came here on a fiance visa, I have been through the entire immigration process with her, from filing the original papers for fiance visa through her citizenship, and stood in line many times at 6 am to be able to talk to an immigration officer before they had the appointment system.

I gave an immigration employee a piece of my mind one morning when he came outside and started talking to those of us standing in line like we were subhuman. I told him as a native born citizen, a Viet Nam vet, and a tax payer I resented his tone and comments and would be more then happy to talk to his supervisor about his attitude and tone if he wish to have them come outside.

If you have ever been audited my the IRS, they made the IRS look a church picnic.

Well, it seems we agree, "Convict those who hire and recruit". Problem, your buddies in the White House and Congress don't seem to want to do that. As a matter of fact they seem to want to make sure there are jobs for the illegals, because they see scum like those law breakers as future voters. So much of the liberal wing of the Democrat party is composed of Thugs and Criminals like those in ACORN that they give true Democrats in the party like me a bad name. The rest of your rant unfortunately is just Liberal/Socialist/Communist clap trap that is not worth the retort. What is a Sheriff to do? Joe cannot make the Federals enforce current immigration laws or do anything to the companies that hire them. The fellow is doing something and that is more than I can say for our Government that has been infiltrated by Socialist scum. Ever wonder why Castro and Hugo Chavez just luv our President. It ain't because he sent them a cheesier IPOD with his speeches recorded on it.

My buddies in power? Heh. I do not vote parties, I vote people. I regularly contact all of my elected representatives, whether they are the guy I voted for or not.

As far as immigration? It has been clamped down to a trickle over the past nine years...and most of those doing the hiring of illegals are big money businesses. Tyson Chicken, Wal Mart...ring a bell? Both of those are big BIG contributors to Republican candidates.

It really does not matter if the politician has a D or an R in front of his name. All they are there for is to stay in office, and get as much as they can grab.
