Hello All,

Here are the highlights of the two weeks of diggin after the Spring thaw (when I was away from the forum), plus the highlights from the muddy hunt day before yesterday...

First off, here's Rodeo Recon at an oddly-situated housesite we found near a spring.

A Civil War Eagle Button I dug day before yesterday:

Rodeo Site 2.webp

Powder Flask Spout dug the same hunt by Rodeo Recon:

Eagle Button.webp

And the rest of the flask ;D (The other side was in pieces, but will still clean up pretty well for display):

Powder Flask Spout.webp

I "dug" an 1868 Shield Nickel. (But really it just beeped at me from where it was laying right on top of the ground in a bean field ):

And Rodeo dug what looks like an 1867 Shield. (The front was not incredible in terms of detail)

A nice victorian brooch with almost all of the gilding left, dug by me:

Even though the photo I took isn't great, this is one of my nicest V nickels:

Some more of Rodeo's finds, including an 1867 IH:

And a few more of my finds from a Solo hunt:

Looks like you kept busy for the winter Buck. Nice Largie and the shield nickles are in good shape also. Relics in abundance have always been your thing. Keep em coming.
Chris

We were frozen in here from the second week of January until the second week of February. These finds are from the past two weeks. I just had to share the sword belt plate hunt last post though. The Draped Bust LC I found was one early coin for here. I figured they should get their own post. :)

Nice copper you guys found last post--keep those rolling too!

What are you waiting for? Get out there and hunt! I can't believe that a digger like you would ever consent to working on a Saturday. :-[

Love the pics. You do make Top Notch posts. The LC and the shield nicks are Sweet. Great Condition. Love the powder flask and Broach. Good tip about the sword hanger.

You are one of the Top Detectorist going!  :coffee2:

Thank you my friend. I like to try and share as much of my experiences as possible. I know how it feels to have Tnet as my only lifeline when I'm snowed in or frozen solid.

Best Wishes to you this spring window.

You told me that you had made some great finds BB and I will certainly agree. You have upheld your "King of old homesites" title again. I know you spent many hours in the cold to dig these coins and relics. WTG again. Now KFB can't say you guys are not worth a nickel anymore!!! HH.

Thank you for your reply, Vol. Though some of it was uncomfortable hunting due to the temperatures--I loved every minute of it. I will inform KFB that we're now at least worth a dime.

Awesome Post,
The Work of Research and Love for the History, Keeps you all with the Best of Coin and Relic Hunting.

Love the Flask and the Buttons

Nova Treasure

As I told Rodeo, finding a complete flask is a tough feat. I've gotten some nice pieces and panels throughout the years, but never a whole one.

Good to hear from you, Nova.

Buckleboy,

Your posts are an exemplary example of how a post on TreasureNet should be done.

The pictures are beyond compare and your words exude intelligence with a touch of whit.

An 1860s/1870s blob top squat soda has been number one on my wish list of glass since the beginning. I can only get to pieces of them.

That is one beautiful bottle. Thanks to your discovery, I will be spending next weekend probing at the walls of my early site with a long screwdriver.

Pleh, a "potato scratcher" is much faster than a screwdriver for locating bottles in the walls of a site. Best wishes to you in your quest. This was my first squat soda, so it has taken a while to find. But they are out there to be had, and that is the important fact.

AWWW Man! Modern Miner, you beat me to it!

I was going to ask BB if he put the mystery brass in the group shot pic to see if any of us were paying attention. Kind of like a relichunters version of Where's Waldo?

So, BB...out with it. Did you find another or were you being sneaky?

Excellent post, Excellent, pics and Excellent Hunt Buckles!!!!! Love the Large cent

Congrats

G1

Thank you G1--I was happy to get a Matron Head LC. Most of what we find in this area is Braided hair... And yet somehow, beating the odds, my first two LC's of 2009 are a Matron and a Draped Bust. :icon_scratch: 8)

That brooch stands out like a sore thumb....that is a greaat find! and I'm sure a few people in here would love to have it!
Plenty of nice buttons ....including a nice artillery button , which is an early war of 1812 or Revolutionary war piece. Can't make out all the detail, but its a nice find. WTG

Yes, Rodeo gets some Huge credit for finding that button. I about fell out of my chair when he called and told me it was an artillery button that said "REGT" on it!

Thanks, my friend. I don't have many pieces of CW glass in the collection--so I was mighty pleased to find it. Even better that it was a local bottle for me.

Thanks MM  The parasol clips are for Certain accurately ID'ed. If you search the words "parasol" and "patent" in my posts you'll see where I found the patent for those pieces. The reason only they survived is because there wasn't a bit of metal on those things except for the clip and the thin iron wires that supported the cloth. (the iron never survives, it seems)

Now, the other piece...well, it still has not been ID'ed. And yes it is a new one--from the same time frame of site as all the others posted on that Whatzit thread. I'll add it to the thread soon enough. :)

LMAO! I am sneaky--just not that sneaky. It is a new one. And although there might be fame and fortune in pretending to dig up these brass two-holed whatzit thingys endlessly, I alas have actually dug another one. :P

Best Wishes,

Buckles
