Shield Shaped Badge, Medal????

I found this at an early home site. Its made of brass or copper. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I do not know what it is but it looks pretty cool. I would guess the 2 knobs on back used to have a bar that connected them together making a loop and it was used as some time of buckle.

It could be an 18th/19th century mourning pin judging by the urn inscribed on it.
