Interesting find:icon_thumleft:

I went back today and found a second spike. Same material it’s about 1 1/2” shorter though. There also alot of old copper flashing in small pieces all over. Makes it a little annoying. I’ll post a pic of the new spike soon

Good find! Take this with a grain of salt because I'm no expert on shipwrecks and the opinion I put forth is from someone else. However, with that disclaimer out of the way: I found a spike, similar to yours, from sand dredged offshore in the gulf. A couple of years after I dug it we had a well known treasure boat captain from the Treasure Coast come speak at our Texas Treasure Expo. I took the spike and showed it to him and he said it was definitely shipwreck and guestimated it was from the very early 1800's. I trusted his opinion enough to put it in my shipwreck artifact case. :icon_thumright:

Looks like a good old ship spike to me....check out that flashing, there maybe some remaining bronze or brass tacks in the pieces.....really small ones

Second smaller spike
