Would this have gone on the bottom of a shoe? How old do you think it is? :dontknow:

IMO it's a little small to be a heel plate. I've found some small ones, but the odd shape of this tells me it isn't that. Maybe a musket part? Bottom part of a copper kettle handle (where the handle attaches to the side)? :icon_scratch:

I have seen similar.

It clearly had 3 screws which went into wood & was built to take weight or stress. So it could be missing a hook for heavy duty purposes or a broken hinge, maybe even a window fitting

As far as age goes, tapered holes mean tapered screws. So made when they made machined screws.

Due to the heft of the screws. it could be the mounting base for a buggy step?? Tony

I think it is too small for a buggy step , looks to be less than 2 inches long.
