Shootin' for nickels.
Today I hunted a long narrow park that abuts up against a golf course. The open area right down the middle of the park is full of junk, having been used as a dump in the past. However the hilly sides and back of the park are relatively clean, except for some stray beer cans, and have produced some good silver. It has been hit pretty hard in the last few years and there's not much of the good stuff left. Therefore, I decided to concentrate on targets in the nickel range, figuring they have been missed in the past.
Most of these finds were in the nickel range:

I did find some coins, including a bicentennial quarter, 1933 and 1944 pennies:

The one nickel I did find read like a bottle cap. It was a 1944 War Nickel:
However, this golden ring did read like a nickel. I think I can make out a faint 10K inside, but I'm not sure. I'll have to get it checked.
