I got out today for a short 2hr hunt on a farm in the Durham Region, northeast of Toronto. I wish the finds had been better, it was very trashy here and I was being extra careful due to the crops popping up. I found part of a pewter spoon, a brass saddle shield and a small aluminum racehorse shoe... kinda looks like a pony shoe? :icon_scratch: I found a 1944 US Wheat, a 1940 George and a 1972 Quarter... not exactly worth getting excited about! This site definitely has potential for more finds, I'll have to make a revisit here in the fall when the soybeans have been harvested!

Hey, it's better than working around the house any day! :laughing7:
Dave

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

Thanks very much for your post vpnavy!

I love this line... "Criminals obey "gun control" laws in the same manner politicians follow their oaths of office".

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Amen to the " better than working round the house " Dave! You can't find it from the couch lol. Definitely looks like a spot for the fall.

Glad to see you're getting some time to detect as well Dave!
Thank for your post,
Dave

Seems like you love the horse shoes Dave, aluminum shoes were used for a variety of reasons it seems. Good to scratch the itch and to line up the possibilities for the fall.

Thanks for the link to the article Jim! :occasion14:
I just new these aluminum shoes had to have other uses other than for racehorses.

Looks like this might have belonged to a show horse or a hunter / jumper. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for posting and for your thoughts thrifty! :hello:
I didn't want to take pics from the front of the property, as it would easily be identified from the road by others.

I'll definitely be heading back here in the fall when the crops are out!
Dave

The spoon was a nice surprise, tell me there might be some age to this site. :icon_scratch:
Of course, having been found in the field, it's pretty chewed up! :angry3:

Best of luck to you,
Dave
