Short after school hunt

Got out of school extremely early today due to senior graduation, so I stopped by a local creek/playground for a quick hunt. I thought that all the rain we've been having would have churned up some change, at least. Unfortunately, this is all the playground had for me today.



I really wish the bottle cap was in better condition, but oh well.

However, something good did come out of today. I've had a suspicion for a few years that there uses to be a building by this creek. Ever since I was younger I've found a crap ton of bricks and brick shards down a little ways from the playground. I decided I would go over there and check it out. Here's what I kept from there that definitely peaked my interests.



I know it doesn't look like much, but this little plate shard pretty much confirms my suspicion. There were tons of thick glass shards lying around as well, but I didn't pick any o' those up.

So even though I didn't find anything extremely awesome, I still got a good learning experience out of it, plus a good new location to dig! Thanks for looking, and HH! -John Deere

I've just discoverd how much fun it is to hunt Tot-Lots,the school closet to my house gave up a $1.39 in change and lots of foil,metal wire,paper clips and other assorted junk,and the smaller tot-lot on the other side of the school gave up 61 cents,& assorted junk.Yesterday I went to another tot-lot and there was this young kid ,probably around 20 years old,he had his dads Minelab and by the sound of it,he had no idea how to use it.He told me ,when I got there that there was nothing here,all he dug up was foil.So I started on the other end and first find was a quarter and then 7 penny's in one hole.Well he was surprised & asked me why his high dollar md couldn't find anything.I told him to go home and watch some Youtube videos of his metal detector and then go back out.

Yeah, I've always thought they'd be good to get some pocket change, at least. There's a playground up at my old elementary school, I think I might hit that up over the summer.

Well any finds is better than none. You may want to try difference search techniques around the school yards and tot lots, it will produce for you. The sand and wood chip piles give up plenty, and very little digging required. It also comes out clean and new, so I dont have to clean it.

I actually got all the nails out of the wood chips in the playground. I was actually surprised how I didn't get any change, even though the playground is kind of small.

That actually may be true. Even though I haven't seen any other detectors in my neighborhood, I have seen some on the outskirts of the neighborhood.

some hunt atnight and some hunt early in the morning. leave a few targets just to see if they're picked up and if you come back tomorrow and they are gone then you know someone's been hunting the spot

Good idea. I'll try that when I go up there this weekend.
