My dad and I headed out yesterday morning for a quick hunt in an older suburb. We have both had good luck in this particular neighborhood. Last week I found four silver dimes and an IHP (1898) and the week before that I found three silver dimes and a no date SLQ. Not to mention the mess of wheat pennies that accompanied the silver. I had high expectations going out there and the higher beings did not disappoint. In about an hour and a half, I dug two Mercury Dimes, including an 1917 and a 1936. I also dug my second IHP in two weeks, this time a 1899. Towards the end of the hunt I found a John Tyler presidential token. It was about 4.5" deep right next to a sidewalk. Pretty interesting facts about the 10th President on the reverse of the token. Learn something new every day I guess. I also recovered 10 wheat pennies including a 1914, 1920, 1928, 1930D, three 1941s, 1944, 1949, and a 1955D. Dad found a couple of wheat pennies. I've got a long way to go to catch up to his fifty-something silver coins on the year.

Good luck and be safe.

nice finds dude, your dad really smell silver?

Yeah, it's pretty amazing what the old man can do. He really gets into it too. I think I even saw him taste the dirt once or twice trying to get a better "read" on the land.
