I haven't been out much in the last couple of weeks because I was sick. I'm starting to feel better now, so I bundled up yesterday and hunted in the woods for a couple hours. I was in an area that is forested now, but back in the 1930's, it was a clearing. It was nice hunting because it wasn't real trashy, and I was digging just about every signal.
After a couple of pop tops, I dug down about 5 inches and pulled out a muddy disc. I knew it wasn't silver
, but it looked interesting. When I got it home and cleaned it up, I found that it was an 1898 V-nickel - and my first.
. She's not in the best shape, but that's OK. I also found an early wheat - still soaking so I can read the date, some clad pennies and ammunition remnants. I know it's not the greatest bounty, and it's certainly not the silver I was looking for, but it turned out to be a decent hunt. Thanks for checking it out!
