Short hunt pays off

I had an hour and a half to kill after work and decided to go hunt for some artifacts. Found a banged up point and a salvaged arrowhead worked into some kind of tool. So I changed spots, everything else I found in a 50' x 50' high spot that forms a point above the river. Right after coming down off the adrenaline rush the black point with the tip ding gave me, I found the best triangle of my life. This spot gave up two nice scrapers and an unusual tool. I thought it was a broken fragment until I noticed no breakage and strange usewear along the edges, it's still scary sharp. Anyone seen anything like this before?

I wish I had my camera for some insitus and a black bear I saw on the way out there. You probably wouldn't have believed me anyway, the triangle was sticking straight up, leaning on a rock. Have a good one, 37

Sweet triangle twenty7, that is for sure a really nice one you found there. Keep it safe around those bears. I wish I had time to get to my spot after work, but it is a 40 min drive from work to my house, then another 45 minutes to my huntin grounds, so by then I am already tired. Need to find a new spot closer to home that produces.

thanks man, I know what you mean, most of my spots are 40 minutes to an hour away. I've got a decent mississippian spot just 3 miles down the road, but its always got construction workers and too much grass, lol.

wow, i have only found one lately, and it was my first creek find. in 2 minutes of the hunt, 3 hours later not a peice of flint. the short one are always the best

Wow we can hunt days and not make finds like that. The triangle a Hamilton? The other looks like a gut hook. Pretty material. Id say you had a banner hunt. Congratulations thirty7.

thanks Tn, I'm leaning towards Hamilton, the Madisons seem to be smaller and wider around here. This one is just under 2 inches long and more narrow in profile, just my best guess could be wrong.

I agree with that Trev, I've found a bunch of nice points on short focused hunts. I've gone 3 or 4 hours with nothing to show but a couple worked flakes. After a couple hours of staring at the ground my eyes get tired.
