My intention yesterday was to walk the perimeter of a new field and make my way to an old colonial house site. 10 minutes in I was directed by some guys to a patch of pines along a ridge where they said there's been a lot of Civil War finds pulled out over the years. I'm mainly a colonial relic guy but I figured I placate them and walk over there. Once I got close I started to pick up iron and eyeball tons of brick. Right off the bat I pulled out a Colt bullet then a couple of sharps (thanks for the ID Metalev4). Next popped out an 1860 fatty IH and then a silver three cent piece. I decided to grid a small area and eyeballed the bottle spout and other glass pieces.....this has to be a camp. Not too long after I asked by the property owner to help his son find some property markers. This property is enormous but I was able to find most of the key markers he was looking for which will hopefully earn me a couple of return trips of which I would like to dig out some potential camp pits.

Some nice finds there Joey, looking forward to see what else you pull out of that site.

Thanks Dave. The seasons coming to an end for me here shortly so I'll be expecting you guys to entertain me during the summer. Good luck!

Always wanted one. Seems like there's only one year that we'd find down here, and that was the only one minted in Orleans (1853-O 3-cent).

Congrats!

Nice silver and variety there Joey:headbang:

No site is safe from the T2:evil6:

I thought i had already replied to this post. Must be getting old Joey-LOl. Nice 3 center. I have never dug one of those. That was really worth something back then. Looks like a real good site-wear it out before someone else does Bud. WTG, Q.

Some really great looking finds there joeyfresh! Those three centers are hard to come by and take skill to find:thumbsup:

Great finds. Only 3 center I have ever had was a sight find - over 25 years before I ever held my first detector, lol. I hope you get the run of the place....you're going to find something even better there!

Thanks Quindy. I took a needed day off of work today so I'll be back at that site shortly....after I complete a couple honey-do's :)

It's a tiny coin, ain't it? hopefully you'll find another, old dude.

Thanks. It rang in solid probably because it was shallow and laying flat but I can see where it could easily be missed under different circumstances.

Nice going Joey - man I should mention 3 cent pieces more often ha ha!

That's the first thing I thought of when I pulled it out of the ground, lol.

Those 3 centers are a very cool coin. Always nice when you find some keepers at a site you didn't intend to hunt. I'm dying to get out and am pretty sure next weekend some of my sites will open up. It's been fun watching you guys did great stuff this winter. But I'm ready to get out there myself!

Very nice finds

Love that 3 cent piece. Also nice finds on all the other relics.

I think those 3 center cool too.
Maybe I'm biased having found one a couple of years ago. Did feel lucky about it as not everyone gets one of those no matter where you live.
