I was about to get out for about an hour and a half tonight, and returned to the Castle House which I've pounded really hard. I've been going slow and steady, focusing on questionable and missed targets. I got a nice high tone right be the front steps. I think I missed it last time because there's another high tone right next to it, but it's under the cement and I can't get to it. This time I worked really hard on the hole and this shiny round guy popped out! The date is completely smooth, so I can only assume it's a 1916.

Sweet find! I know you're kidding about the 1916, since it has a D mintmark and 3 stars under the eagle, but it is a great find nonetheless! Congrats!

LOL. Yeah, but I always knew that date was the first thing I'd look for if I found one. I have a 1916 Merc and I've looked for the D about a dozen times. It's never appeared!

Yeah, it's the only way to go at this point. So much junk you have to really listen. And dig a LOT! Luckily I can keep going back.

Congrats on your 1st SLQ. Like buffalos and others, the date is typically smoothed out--I guess you can say both a beautiful and poor design. Keep hitting that spot--obviously it's not done giving!

Any SLQ is a wonderful find in my book! Nice!

If the signal under the cement is high enough. You're welcome to any of the tools in my equipment list. ;)

HH!

That first SQL is always an amazing find! Congrats on your perseverance in recovering that nice silver. Not easy to get one with a date, that's for sure! Nice find buddy!

Great job on your first SLQ! That can be a tough one to cross off the list :icon_thumright:
