It was supposed to be raining by the afternoon here in southeast wisconsin. After work the sun was shining so I decided to do an hour and a half hunt. Went to the old standby place as it's only a couple minutes away. I thought I had detected this place to death. Conditions must have been just right as I pulled out these two indians. 1863 and 1868 I thought the jewelry piece was silver, but it seems pretty light and not marked.
Hope everyone finds something good this weekend!
Steve

Is the penny on the right bigger than the other one, or is it the camera angle?
I was thinking the same thing. :o :D It is a "fatty" indian head after all. :tongue3: That is a very good picture showing the difference in composition of those coins. The one on the right is the copper/nickel version...The one on the left is bronze. The bronze holds up so much better underground. Up until 1864, IH's were composed of copper/nickel. In 1864 they changed over to bronze. 1864's were made both ways. They changed mid-year.

Great finds! And Nick's right, cool avatar
