Didn't really have the time on my hands to make it an all day weekend hunt, but I did manage to get a few hours in. The silver coin gods are not in my favor and it's been a slow past three weeks, (I think I upset them the moment I started looking for nickels :) ) but I did manage to find this ring in one of the parks I went to. It's pretty solid and has a little heft to it. Too bad the ring part is bent and split. I usually give my ring finds away, but I'm going to start keeping them.

Short hunt appears to have been a good hunt.

Nice old ring! It looks Art Deco.

After the gold rings start to pile up, you can sell them for scrap.

SAVE THOSE RINGS!!!! :D

Congrats!

What were you using? How is the EX treating you?

I was using the 250 Larry..........it's so damn trustworthy, I need to grab that Explorer and not look back. It's an inner battle. Ridley, I'm not 100% and it can't be seen in the photo, I didn't even wash it, but I am convinced it has a crapload of diamond bits. Not sure. I'll have LI TOM take a look at it next time around.

Cool looking ring. :o

What's bent on the ring? I found a beautiful little 18k sapphire with tiny diamonds on each side of the stone and the ring was bent really bad (at the beach in the rocks on a 20 degree winter afternoon). I have a great way to straighten them out. Can you post of pic of it? Maybe I can tell you how I fixed mine :)

The actual ring part is split and bent. The face is intact and attached very well. Here's a pic I whipped up to give you an idea.

Ric,
Put it on a mandrel, work it into shape(i use a rawhide hammer), solder together...
just a thought.
Congrats!

Ok, I see. Well, since it is broken that stinks but... my ring was bent just like yours. I used a spud wrench (see pic) in a vise. Similar to what Asheen just mentioned. I put the ring on the spud wrench. Then I took a piece of either copper pipe or pvc to the size of the ring and placed it over the ring and then gently tapped the ring down onto the spud wrench. I watched as I did this until the ring was gently forced and reshaped again. It worked really well. You may be able to straighten it out like that and then solder the ends back together. See the pic.
