Went to one of my dump banks this morning to dump about $545 of dimes & quarters. I knew exactly how much in dimes that there should have been, but the machine counted 85 dimes AS cents, therefore I was shorted $7.65 on approx $545 face value. Told the head cashier that the DIME calibration slot on the machine needs adjustment, she'll check into it. However, on the bright side of this story, when I took my coin slip to a teller to deposit $ into my account, I asked her if she had any odd coins (never mention silver coins), as foreign/large Ike's/halves. She opens her drawer and pulls out 3-halves; I'll take them all, only being polite. From a distance across the counter I can see a VERY white rim coin out of the 3. Turns out I got a dirty '68, and like new '69(thought it was a silver proof it was so white & clean). Getting 2 out of 3 teller tray halves kinda eased the pain of the $7.65 dime shortage.

Yeah no kidding, not a full refund on your money, but its much better than no silver!

Thats what I hated about dimes too, counting as cents... ugh

Definitely a downfall of dimes is the shortages/miscounts

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

I have to agree with what's already been said. I gave up searching dimes too because they are just too risky and costly to dump. Its interesting though that the machines don't ever seem to count cents as dimes lol. Well at least its good u found a little silver to cover most of your losses, for today anyway. Hope this isn't a recurring problem for u like it was starting to be for me before I gave up on dimes.
