We are starting to grid to the point where the Late Roman Site overlaps a Migration Period Saxon Site. This Saxon Site, settled by immigrants only has dating evidence from AD480-600, so pretty short lived before they moved or :dontknow: .
We can't understand why we haven't had a Roman Silver yet, very odd. The last big grid we did before this plough we had 96 bronze & 4 silver. We are now on 73 bronze & 0 silver. Hopefully we get one next time...
5 Hours;

28 Roman Bronze Coins (1 holed & 1 OK)
Our biggest Tudor Cauldron Foot ever...
Bit of 6th C Saxon Pot
17th C Rose Horse Harness Mount
Jetton
Rose Farthing
2 17th C Tokens - 1 scarce one of Barnard Castle, Durham.
17th C Spur Buckle
2 Medieval Buckles
Bit of Roman Bracelet
Medieval Lead Trade Weight
Lead Cloth Seal
Hammered - Grotty example of a Queen Mary Groat. (I just about kept the Silver Streak alive)

The bronze coin...with helmet, 3rd picture down caught my eye...can you tell me what the history is on that one?

Great finds!

It's called a 'City Commemorative' (not a representative of an Emperor) celebrating the founding of Constantinople & has Victory on Prow of Boat on reverse. This triggered a response from Rome to do theirs as a reverse of Romulus & Remus.
