I found this shell at a park in Riverside, CA. I know it a 12 gague shell . My question s are, did hunting clubs have special shells made and what's up with the writing and markings on this12 gauge base? The compact has Contourie' on the lid and the stick says Elizabite Ardin Tissue Stick Hollywood, any age and what was Tissue Stick use for? The makeup items where found togather.

Hi, Ant...

The shotgun shell brass that you found was made sometime between 1891 and 1905. "U. M.C. Co." stands for the Union Metallic Catridge Company, which was founded in 1867. In 1911, it merged with Remington to form REM-UMC, which existed from 1911 to 1934. Primrose Club was one of several UMC Co. brands with "Club" names; others included New Club, Black Club, and Nitro Club.

All the best,
PBK
