Should I or Shouldn't I...X-Terra 70

I have a chance to get an X-Terra 70, brand new in the box with a 2 yr extended warranty for $450. So, what I want to know from you X-Terra users, is it worth the money. I need to make my decision by Friday. So, let me know what you think of this machine.

Hmm... I don't know much about the X-Terra 70, but I bought a DFX for $500 this year, and here's an Explorer XS with two coils that only went for $405 on eBay http://tinyurl.com/ctoe87 Just some other options for you ;-)

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I...X-Terra 70

I've had my X-70 for almost a year and love it. Lightweight and so versatile. A whole bunch of different coils available for different applications. Most importantly, it is very easy to work through the menu. Accept/Reject on any object takes about 10 seconds. Low tones for iron and high for coins. Just a very , very user friendly detector. In my opinion it will beat the DFX on depth any day and the X-70 is much easier to learn than the DFX or the Explorer. Yes, I owned and EX for about 2 years and a DFX for almost 3 years.

You can pick up a brand new Vaquero (Tesoro) for less and do just as well (probably a bit deeper) AND have a lifetime warranty...

I didn't steer you wrong with the camera did I? ;D

Buy the X-terra 70, you won't regret it. I own and have owned a few Tesoros and I like my XT-70 better. With the 10.5 DD coil its deeper and lighter than any machine, with its stock coil, I've ever owned (MXT or Tesoro Eldorado). The MXT can probably get deeper with a few of the newer, large coils but it weighs over 5lbs. I like the X-terra for its versatility (tones even in all metal) and lightness. And, it has a better build quality than either of the popular F-series Fishers.

The X Terra 70 is one of the best detector in it's price range. And better than some more expensive one.

The display is large and easy to read. The pin point on the X70 is very good.

In finding coins I like using the 3Khz mode.

In the end, buy the one you want, that you have researched.

You will not regret it. You will learn alot about how different frequencies are in different situations. The suggested tesoro above runs at 14KHz only which is way to high for finding silver and copper in iron infested areas. The Xterra is a top seller for a reason.

My previous detector was an MXT. MY current in an X-70. I like the Minelab much better.

(1) It is a lot lighter than the MXT. I needed a swingy-thingy all the time with it.
(2) The X-70 control panel suits me better, easier to read and adjust
(3) X-70 uses 4 AA Batteries compared to MXT 8 batteries. Cheaper and lighter

There are probably some other differences but I would buy another X-70 over the White's. It's a great machine and does it's job well.

Good luck! They all work and I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you decide to get. HH
