Detector(s) used
Garrett AT Pro w/stock 5"x8" coil, NEL Snake 3.5"x6.5" coil and NEL Hunter 12.5"x8.5" coil.
Shadow X2 with 4" (coin sniffer in trash), 7" and 9" coil.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
First off, I've been lurking the Minelab board for some time now.
I've been detecting for 29 or so years. I've owned a Bounty Hunter, GTA1500, Fisher 1266, Whites XLT, Shadow X2, Whites Surfmaster PI, Fisher 1270 and my new baby, a Tesoro Vaquero. Don't even ask me how may coils I've owned....too many to count. :tard:

My question is would I benefit from an SE? Would I pick up on the "fluted" sounds quickly?
My fear is convincing my wife to let me buy one, only to find out I don't like it.
I really would love to hunt those "hunted out" places with a deep machine.
I know some of the parks around here have some pretty deep stuff.

If anyone in Dallas/Fort Worth owns one, maybe we could meet up sometime for a hunt. I have exclusive permission to hunt a very old site on 52 acres that has produced dozens of Indians, Mercs. and many old relics.

I have been detecting for less than 1 year- went from a xlt to an explorer II and now to a se.
I have been reading a ton, but I have picked up on it pretty quickly.
The hardest thing for me to get used to on the SE is the iron falsing- seems like the EXII handled iron a lot better...im rambling.

With the experience and dedication you have you should have no problem learning it in a month or two.

(Buy a EX II off Ebay or the forum for $600- half price and just as good imo)

with all the experience you have you may want to wait a couple of weeks and look at the new Whites Pulsescan TDI. You may find it reopens the old sites?

From what I've read I plan to stick with the early Explorers and actually just bought an XS eventhough I have an Explorer II. I have no intentions of buying an SE though I love how these new versions kill the price on the early units.
