Found this small little box that I guess could be a makeup compact but it seems real small. Any idea on age?

Also found this heavy disk object. No idea.

Found these both in a iron patch since my 5x8 coil just came in from Bart's.

No treasure. Sure enough a broken mirror and a bunch of dirt-like powder. I know the next one will have a bunch of old coins in it

Oh, but you have yet to begin. What's the story on this item? Any name, company?. It's very similar to some cosmetic contains I found a while back. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...rincess-pat-makeup-silver-fire-opal-more.html. Sure it has no monetary value, but I love reading the history of items like that I find. Mine was made in 1925. Sure helps Identify the age of the hunting grounds. What type of spot was it? Vacant lot? Park?

I'd be excited with that find.

Keep digging, cool finds, I have found a couple of those other things, I think they are a "rosette" from horse's bridal?

I found a makeup compact just like that. Yours is in better shape on account mine was found in the middle of a 50acre hay feild with infinite tractor roots. Here's a picture.

Cool Find. I've found many but keep your eyes open. The last one I found was just the bottom and full of crusty crud and rust. It sat in a pile for a wile. For some reason I picked it up and began studying it. No marks at all till I broke out the loop and looked closely at the retaining ring.... Sterling Silver!

Great looking cosmetic compact. I've dug quite a few over the years, and every one had a broken mirror in it. Yours looks to be in great shape.
Congrats,

I would have advised NOT to open it.

Mystery is key to the entertainment of such an item.

I once opened a vintage discovery from a western ghost town... nothing was inside, it was no longer 'unopened', and it's value was diminished.

...just my 2 cents...

Yeah i still think its cool because its so old-- It was close to an old stable/garage. The homesite was established in what I think is 1880. As far as markings, the only one i saw was "Made in the USA" stamped pretty small on the hinge
